Country festivals

Nothing like wine culture identifies Asti and its surroundings in the world.

In order to pay a tribute in it’s hometown to this universal ambassador, since 36 years, every second Sunday of September, we celebrate “ Sotto il segno della Douja d’Or”, the Festival that reunites all the “ Sagre” an impressive day of celebration which has been defined “One of the most realistic representations of peasant life.”

Over 40 “ Pro Loco” ( tourist offices) of the Asti province offer their culinary specialities along with DOC wines from the region. In the outside Restaurant you’ll be using typical osteria glasses, paper plates, and biodegradable cutlery which symbolize past and future at the same time. The ombreloni and the lively coloured cloths , along with the wooden cabins of the Pro loco spread a touch of joy into the entire picture, and contribute to make the day at the Festival delle Sagre an experience you’ll never forget! All this will take place after the folkloristic parade that flows across the city’s streets, animated by over three thousand figures wearing authentic ancient clothings,  riding tractors, and carrying old tools which represent the values and traditions of this stunningly beautiful land.

The parade is a fix appointment for all those who wish to get a taste of simple things from the past, and of countryside’s characters who maintain alive in history those customs whose roots are connevted with these hills.
